"Pain was the punishment for wrongdoing in the Garden of Eden. Pain was the price one paid for not being morally perfect"- Diana Ackerman
Artist Statement: When Ackerman points out that pain exists because we are not morally perfect. I made the connection to the burn marks I have on my hand. When smoking there is no short term indicator of how bad it is. I cannot see nor feel the effects as I inhale the smoke. Recently, I was mentally upset because I saw that I enjoy the buzz that I get from smoking, so I burnt myself. The action was to remind me that I am harming myself in the long run.
